The Brook and Wilde mattress catalogue have quite a few stellar ⭐ members which are doing very well in the market industry. We wouldn't call their mattresses classics because they haven't been around for long enough, but they certainly already are achieving a grand reputation in the field. The most technically advanced mattress in the Brook and Wilde range is the ‘elite mattress' with it's name being very appropriate, since it is well composed and delivers excellent features, but perhaps really only can appeal to a select few on the economic ladder. The clue's in the name. It is why Brook and Wilde have a more on budget mattress that can achieve a high level of comfort 🌥and support as well as other criteria in less layers, which happens to be much more popular than the others. This is the Brook and Wilde Lux mattress. Unlike the popular characters in high school hollywood movies, this mattress is more of a modest crowd-pleaser. It uses much less spring coils than the Brook and Wilde Perla, it is 4 cm shy of the total thickness of the Perla and is without luxurious 🎩materials in its kindred, like latex which is found in the elite mattress. Still, though it tops them all.👑 The Brook and Wilde Lux mattress lets its fans do its boasting for it and there is a lot of that. However there are many mattresses out there such as a pocket sprung mattress or a pure foam mattress that can be satisfying for you. There are almost indisputably bigger names out of there, but the key take-away from this piece will be whether the Brook and Wilde Lux mattress is great for you. This is what really matters because it will be you sleeping on the product. In this Brook and Lux mattress review we have taken the time to pick apart the mattress and dissect the strengths the Lux and if there are weaknesses that you should be made aware of.
The Brook and Wilde Lux delivers six special layers which make it a hybrid mattress instead of just a memory foam mattress due to the inclusion of springs and foam. With the combination of these layers the Lux reaches a depth of 28cm which surpasses the mattress standard of 25cm, but is the lowest level of thickness in the Brook and Wilde catalogue.
This is the top level of the mattress and is manufactured to be very breathable, so your sweat is transmitted out of the mattress and heat is moderated, so you can sleep with comfort. However the top cover☝ is not removable and is not washable. This seems to be a common issue 😒amongst the big bed-in-a-box mattress brands.
This is just below the mattress cover and would be considered as the comfort layer in the conventional hybrid mattress formation as it is near the top and will bring adaptability to the mattress . As it is made of memory foam, the viscoelastic qualities of the comfort layer will enable it to mould to the shape of your body and you will be able to . This layer is quite thin, making up 5 and a half centimetres of the Lux's total thickness, but this is enough to experience the memory effect of a regular memory foam mattress which is made possible by the four effects that contribute to the properties of memory.
This supplementary level is the support layer of the mattress, aiding the characteristics that are engendered by the memory foam layer above. This reaches a thickness of 3.5 centimetres and is densely compact. The density in this layer impacts upon the overall firmness of the mattress, so this supportive layer acts a strong reinforcement for the layer above. This level is unique because of the construction of the layer enables versatile support for varying areas of your body. They are split into 4 zones of construction. It is labelled as wave technology because the fluctuating levels of thickness in the different zones give it that wave effect.🌊
The Pocket springs make up two layers of the mattress hybrid configuration. This makes it a very prominent part of the structure. Altogether 3000 pocket springs can be found within the structure, but they are not placed back to back. The first layer of the springs sits above the wave technology foam layer. The total number of springs in that layer numbers 2,000. The secondary layer of springs are found near the bottom of the layer formation; directly below the wave technology foam. The springs used in the upper layer are mini pocket springs, whilst the layer of 1,000 pocket springs are full sized. These layers, which envelop the wave technology have a huge difference in height with the mini coils 👶being 2 cm, so they do not diminish the effect of the layer below too much, whilst the full sized pocket springs, below the mini pocket springs, are the thickest part of the entire mattress, reaching 13cm. 🦒
This sits at the very bottom of the mattress. It faciliates the effectiveness of the layers above by acting as the sturdy 💪and reliable foam foundation, particularly the secondary layer of full-sized pocket springs. Below is a non-slip base material which keeps it all in check. By preventing the mattress from slipping upon the bed frame, the characteristics of the mattress are preserved.
Though it is referred to as the wave technology you won't experience the motion sickness associated with sitting on top of waves. Instead due to the full-sized pocket springs being ensconced in between the foam layers, the motion transfer that arises from springs is suppressed. This means movement 🤸♀️will not be transmitted to other parts of the mattress from where it originated and any bounce is kept isolated.
The spring layers in the Brook Wilde Lux enable air to be circulated throughout the layers, between the gaps of the coils. This is essential because trapped 🚧air equals trapped and that adds up to a miserable attempt at sleep, 🥵so the Lux's spring layer lowers temperature levels a bit. However the thermal-regulation is far from that of the Dreamcloud Luxury Hybrid mattress which uses phase-changing cooling gel in its foam to dissipate heat and reduce the temperature.
The firmness of the mattress is where the Brook and Wilde Lux really excels because it offers three mattress options for you to find the right one for you. The first option is of a soft firmness. In this the bounce of the springs and the viscolelasticity of the memory foam is really accentuated. There will be a lot of padding for this soft mattress and you will fall quite far into the mattress if you are not a light sleeper, making it feel like you are in a pile of wool. The third option on the other extremity is the high-level firmness🧱 Lux option, an excellent choice for those that want a firmer mattress. This firmer mattress gives almost maximum support and the sturdiness that starts from the bottom is most noticeable with this option. The second option is likely goldilocks' favourite. It is a medium firm mattress and is the balance between the two extremities. It is not a very firm mattress variation or too soft. Therefore the firmness of the mattress is not going to be a problem because there is an option there for your needs, regardlss of your size, weight and sleeping style🛌 and stomach sleepers in particular will benefit.
How it addresses pressure points is where the wave technology foam layer really shines.🌟 It's uniqueness is down to the fact that most mattresses that gear particular layers towards pressure relief, use zoned-construction that implements grooves 💃and traverse cuts within the foam. However the depth and thickness variation in the wave technology of the Brook Wilde Lux provides specific support for the neck, where the surface level is raised; the shoulders, where the level dips; the hip, where the mattress lets this area sink in and where it is lower and the legs, where the surface is raised and level. This all ensures optimal ergonomics for a pleasant sleep. 😴
Brook and Wilde Lux wanted to cover all the bases with their firmness options, but they didn't stop at the three levels of firmness that they offer. If you're interested in the Lux, but still are not convinced any of those three mattress options match your expectations for an ideal mattress firmness, then you can request a bespoke Lux mattress. This means Lux are extending the invitation to customise your mattress, building 👷it around your needs
The Brook Wilde mattress does have a quality level of responsiveness. The pocket springs complement the viscoelasticiy of the memory foam well by providing great body conformity to the sleeper. Having the mini-coils pocket springs layer above the full-sized layer was not a whimsical decision. The smaller sized pocket springs provide greater adaptability because they fit around the body shape more tightly, so the contouring effect is felt a lot.
The answer to the spinal alignment of the Lux comes down to the Wave technology foam layer, particularly zone 1 where the neck is supported. If the neck is misaligned to the rest of the body, you will face discomfort, so the Lux has ensured that will not be the case as spine alignment is promoted. Zones 2 and 3 keep the spine alignment neutral position and level which prevents back pains from occuring by how you sleep which is a critical matter in choosing a mattress which will benefit your well-being.👨⚕️
Since the memory foam layer of the Brook and Wilde Lux is made from high-density foam, there will be at least a decent level of support across the majority of the mattress' surface area. However, the Lux does not incorporate a special edge reinforcing technology unlike the Simba Hybrid and Simba Hybrid Pro which both use ‘edge-lift technology’ to prop up the sides. To check out the Simba Hybrid check out the link here and for the Simba Hybrid pro it's here Therefore the edge support of the Brook and Wilde Lux doesn't compare too well to these examples.

I had experience of this Brook Wilde mattress as my daughter had hers for 2 years. Whenever I stayed with her I used to tell her that I loved the bed, so when I changed I didn't have to think twice. Delivery was fast and efficient. I have had it for a few weeks now and it is the most comfortable mattress I have slept on. 😍 | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | United Kingdom | Female |
Once I had swapped my soft mattress for a firm one. The firm is excellent and great quality. Brook and Wilde arranged the exchange very quickly and customer services was easy to deal with.🤩 | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | United Kingdom | Female |
Ordered a medium firmness Super-King. It takes a while to know if it's the right one for me. It looks nice, but of course that isn't the point. I've been sleeping on it for about a month and it seems more comfortable than the Eve mattress I had before.😃 | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | United Kingdom | Male |
As with the usual bed-in-a-box brand, off-gassing does occur to an extent with the Brook and Wilde Lux. It's almost part of the package when it comes to the literal packaging of the mattresses. Off-gassing occurs from the release of VOC's or Volatile Organic Compounds and Semi-Volatile Organic compounds. To learn more about what that is and if they are harmful,💀 check out the link here. The emissions💨 will subside after not too long, so you don't have to worry about any smells after a while and your ideal home can return to its natural state
The Brook and Wilde Lux is CertiPur approved. CertiPur is the standardizing regulator for polyurethane usage in mattresses. They certify mattresses that manufacture witout the use of harmful metals such as mercury, lead and cadmium. That makes the Lux clean in this regards. Furthermore, the Lux is produced without the inclusion of TCCP. which has an adverse effect on the ozone layer. TCCP is used to meet fire regulation 🔥standards in mattresses, but the Lux has managed to do without it, so they have applied thought and action to their eco-pureness ethos. If your old mattress isn't eco-friendly you can rest assured that the Brook and Wilde Lux is. As for the hypoallergens, the Lux doesn't really come with materials to combat allergens.
The memory foam layer at the top is manufactured with the open-cell structure through a process called vulcanization. The open-cell structure means that on a cellular level the foam is without many walls or barriers that prevents air and moisture from escaping. 🔐This means that moisture is transmitted out of the mattress, so sweat💦 does not disturb your sleep.
The vulcanization process in the foam's production is key to creating foam which is more durable and will be quite-long lasting. ⏳Since the memory foam is in the upper part of the mattress and will be closer to the action, so to speak, or closer to the weight that you place upon the mattress you can expect it to be highly resistant to the pressure placed upon it. You can expect this mattress to maintain its starting level of quality for a while. 📅
