Emma original mattresses are manufactured 👷♂️and produced in the UK. They are stored within tight, plastic vacuums, which are stored in cardboard boxes. The special vacuum compression of the bed allows the Emma mattress to be comfortably rolled up 🌯and remain lightweight and easy to transport.🚢 This also expedites distribution because more mattresses can be stored in delivery vehicles and allows for faster deliveries for those buying them. There are four integrated handles on the side of the Emma mattress which make it easy to move, turn around, 🙃 or transport which could be a missing feature of an old mattress.

Outer cover
The top cover is a thin and has a soft texture. It is made up of 98% polyester, which makes it highly moisture-resistant and durable. We found that due to the polyester material, the outer cover has great hydrophobic☔ properties which means that it excels at moisture wicking. This is when sweat💦 is quickly transported to the outer surface of a material through capillary action and just as rapidly is dried from the outside so that it can’t be soaked in by the user of the mattress through the fabric. This prevents the discomfort of a sticky outer cover, so the moisture-wicking keeps the user protected from clamminess and stickiness which could be a problem with an outer cover sheet being made of cotton. The outer cover is completely washable 🧺and removable. This is important because you don’t have to make a trade-off between the cleanliness and freshness of the cover and the quality of its hydrophobic qualities. Due to this, it pairs🤝 well with the Emma mattress protector.
The Airgocell layer
At the top is the layer designed for comfort, i.e. the comfort layer which is 1.5 inches thick and is composed of Airgocell foam. This foam layer seems to work in conjunction with the outer cover with battling perspiration because it works to absorb 🧽 the sweat of the user, then accelerates its evaporation. It can be considered to work with the memory foam below to form the comfort layer of this Emma mattress. The foam is produced with open-pore cell structure which makes it very breathable and promotes steady and regular airflow. The cells are designed to be even more open than regular polyurethane foam mattresses. This makes it cooler when you sleep and prevents heat from being trapped in the comfort layer.🥵 It is highly responsive, so the springiness allows for freedom of movement and means that it won’t make it feel as if you’re stuck on the mattress on top of the bed frame.
The memory foam
The foam layer below is memory foam. It is about 2 inches thick and is designed for contouring the body. It has slower responsiveness, so it provides that body-hugging effect since it shapes around the mold of one’s body, to provide optimal comfort 😊and is particularly beneficial for stomach sleepers. Its purposeful placement below the airgocell foam layer means that even though the memory foam layer traps heat, 💥it is countered by the top layer to prevent trapped heat from reaching the surface. The base of the Emma Original mattress is 8 inches thick and is the base or foundation layer. It is made up of polyurethane foam or PU material which is durable and supportive whilst being sturdy as the base since it is dense. 💪It is a high-resiliency HRX foam, with HRX standing for high-resiliency extra, which is the best quality of polyurethane foam and is better than the regular grade polyfoam and even the high-density grade. This means it comes with the best support that the polyfoam or cold foam can offer. Also, Polyurethane is very lightweight 🧻making the mattress easy to transport or flip. 🛌

High-resilience polyfoams are much more difficult to produce and are even close to the comfort that latex produces it adds to its value. Much of its resilience is also due to the high level of density of the mattress. The HRX foam base has a density of over 55kg/m3. Would you be disturbed by a sleeping partner's movement?
Due to the Emma Original mattress not containing springs and using memory foam motion on a mattress is well contained. 🔐Movement from a sleeper on the bed doesn’t ripple across as it would likely do on a springs mattress, whether that be pocket springs or innersprings.
Thermal regulation
Does it get too hot?
The airgocell layer is composed of about 50% air which is a huge factor in temperature regulationand the easiness for heat to be guided🔎 out of the material. However this is somewhat undermined by the memory foam which notoriously traps heat, so sometimes we found that it can get a bit hot for moments, but not for very long due to the airgocell layer.

We found that the edge support of the Emma original mattress is not fantastic, so it's not the best mattress in this area, 😕mainly because the sides are not reinforced with sturdy materials that frame the sides. This means the edges will usually be slack and won’t offer you great firm support⚓ for your sleeping position.
Off-gassing
Does it produce gas? Does it have an unpleasant smell?
Since this mattress is produced with PU foam, off-gassing will inevitably occur, which likely will cause an unpleasant smell 👃with a new mattress when opened, so don't be surprised when that happens with this Emma.
