When you speak of the best mattresses, an Emma mattress tends to creep into the conversation.
The German mattress company is used to producing top-tier products. The Emma Premium mattress formerly known as the Emma Original Hybrid seems to be no exception.
It is even considered by many to be a modification of its big-selling sister, the Emma Original which shouldn't be confused with the original hybrid. Of course, this does not mean the Emma Premium is destined to be in your bedroom because your preferences and requirements are based on a huge list🧾 of factors. Therefore we have assessed the Emma Premium carefully to see if you would want it to be what you sleep on for the foreseeable future or if you will see the Emma Premium as the ugly duckling 🐤in the Emma family with no happy ending. This Emma Premium mattress review will analyze the benefits and potential downfalls of the mattress.
The cover alone has picked up numerous awards for what it brings. It is easy to wash which might not seem like much, but if you've checked out our other reviews, you'll see that is often what is lacking in other mattresses. The cover offers much breathability and is designed to regulate heat very well. It is made up of 99% polyester which has been woven in a way to allow for air💨 to pass through easily. The polyester also makes the cover quite durable 🧱and resistant to sweat that is supposed to pass through the material or spillages which require moisture transmission. The 1% of elastane that is part of the cover's make-up provides a level of elasticity which makes it quite easy to remove when you feel that is needed.
This is the first point of contact that you will have with the foam in the Emma Premium. It is a specially produced memory foam comfort layer that comes with the qualities you'd expect from memory foam. This is down to the viscoelasticity of the layer, which is the combination of liquid-like🌊 or viscous behavior and elastic versatility. This creates an immense amount of comfort for the Emma premium.
This layer is there to answer the problems with heat retention that memory foam brings to a mattress. The Airgocell layer is at the top, just below the cover in the Emma Original, so this contrast between the two generates a direct point for comparison. The reason for the Airgocell layer being placed is that there is another memory foam beneath which has to be addressed. The Airgocell is a proprietary technology that is composed of almost 50% air. This guarantees that heat retention is not a problem which ensures your sleep is not made impossible by ridiculous temperatures. It is a relatively new innovation and even has a soft, silky touch🌥 which adds further luxury to your sleeping experience.
Just below the Airgocell layer is more Airgocell. This layer incorporates memory and essentially amplifies the properties of the layer above. This means there are two layers of memory foam and two layers of Airgocell within just the top three layers. Perhaps you think this is excessive, but really the close compacted layering system does not result in the levels counteracting each other. Rather the doubling up of the Airgocell does much to assist in the support that you get when lying upon it.
The Emma Premium is made up of 6 layers which are each designed to contribute to the ‘premium’ label that implicates luxury. Let's look at what each layer brings to the mattress.
This is the one and only pocket spring section of the mattress and is what allows for this Emma hybrid mattress to rightfully be called a hybrid. This contains 5 zones of support which are composed of many titanium spring coils which number in the hundreds. This layer is a height of 12.5 cm and is considered to be the core of the Emma Premium. This is described as ‘extra-tall’, 🦒since the height of the Emma Premium regardless of size is 25cm, so the spring core is precisely 50% of the mattress's height, so the effects contribute to about half of the mattress' qualities. The properties of springs differ from that of memory foam, but really only enhance the mattress' responsiveness. The independent movement of the Pocket-sprung coils offers pin-point pressure relief that prevents you from facing discomfort during your sleep.
This is the foundation at the very bottom of the foam mattress. This by no means makes it the least important part of the Emma Premium. The Emma Original also incorporated the HRX foam base in its structure, but in the Emma premium, it is only 6cm of cold foam in comparison to the 20cm of the Emma Original mattress. Cold foam is polyurethane foam produced in a blocked matrix without additional heat, thus the name. Despite it being thinner, it is Emma Premium's base that claims the ‘supreme foam’ 🤩title and it is critical for distributing weight across the mattress. Below the base is a non-slip surface that prevents a lot of slipping which can subtract from the pressure relief of a mattress and take away some of its value.
The Emma Premium contains pocket sprung coils in its construction and even though pocket sprung coils transfer motion much less than innerspring coils, it has a somewhat negative impact on the motion isolation of the mattress. In comparison to numerous competitors, the Emma Premium falls short concerning its motion isolation. 😔However the transmission of movement is more similar to ripples than to large waves.
Having two layers of Airgocell allows for double the amount of thermal regulation in this foam mattress. Yet the Carbonflex spring layer ensures that air can escape with ease due to the gaps between each cool, thus heat is not trapped. Therefore temperatures don't reach unbearable levels. 🥵
According to our firmness standards, after having tested the mattress for several nights, the Emma Hybrid Premium model, we have categorized it as being of medium firmness. This means the Emma Premium has the exact hardness required for you to not sink or bounce when you lie down and a firmer mattress would likely cancel out its comfort attributes.
Being called the Emma Premium is bound to bring about a lot of pressure. It turns out, though, that the Emma Premium is great at handling pressure. In particular, it does well with pressure relief. The Airgocell foam also does well with pressure relief. In fact, that has been pointed out by many users and reviewers as one of the areas where the mattress excels the most. Furthermore, the mattress can be considered to be an orthopaedic one because of how it performs concerning people who suffer from back pains and aches. The build-up of pressure points occurs based on what type of sleeper 😴you are and how heavy you are. Generally, the most pressure is in the hips and shoulders regions, where you push furthest into the mattress, but the Airgocell layers of the mattress offset this and provide proportionate support for these areas, so you don't wake up with pains and discomfort because of the incompetence of the mattress in this regard.
The Carbonflex springs layer does much for boosting the responsiveness of the mattress as the sheathing of the coils allows them to move with individual agency. This means where more compression is needed and decompression is called for, the mattress has the adaptability to behave promptly and appropriately to your sleeping requirements. The viscoelasticity of the memory foam allows your mattress to contour to the shape of your body and fit snugly around your outline, so they experience a high level of comfort. 🤗
The mattress is excellent for spinal alignment. It could even be the best mattress out there for keeping the spine aligned. The Halo memory foam and Spring core in particular work in tandem to provide an adequate amount of support which keeps the spine naturally aligned. This is regardless of your sleeping position.
This is an aspect lacking in this Emma mattress. Even though foam walls encase the mattress layers The edges are not well enough reinforced to prevent a bit of collapse on the sides. This pretty much limits the purchase of Emma Premium to the King size variation for sleeping couples👫 since the outer edges need to be excluded from consideration of sleeping on. It isn't much better with the Emma Original either. To get an Emma mattress review on the Emma Original check out this link. It will help you figure out which is the best mattress for you between the two.
As is often the case with foam mattresses that have been vacuum sealed for delivery and storage preservation purposes, off-gassing is an issue with the Emma Premium. This is the release of Volatile Organic Compounds, which are considered to be harmless, but they are chemical pollutants that can smell a little unpleasant. The Emma Premium hasn't done much to counter this, but it is quite a minor problem and the smell 👃typically disappears after a few days.
The cover is hypoallergenic. This removes dust-mite allergens from the potentially small list of worries you should have when getting this Emma hybrid mattress. The eco-cleanness of the mattress is not at the center of the company's ethos🌳. They tend to be less focused on this than other mattress producers, so we wouldn't consider that to be its strength. However, if this is important to you the Nectar mattress takes purposeful steps to keep its eco-purity at a high level. To learn more about what the Nectar mattress has to offer, check out the link.

Quick to purchase. Quick to deliver and quick in putting it to use, also. | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | United Kingdom | Male |
The mattress is wonderful. The only downside was having to get it up the stairs on my own. | ⭐⭐⭐ | United Kingdom | Female |
The Airgocell layers of this Emma hybrid are open-cell which means the process of foam-making results in the cells of the foam being without walls. This promotes the circulation of air and moisture throughout the foam layer structure. Therefore the Airgocell helps to prevent it from feeling like you are sleeping in the heart of a volcano as well as keep your sweat at bay.
The titanium of the springs will give the innovative pocket springs core of the mattress extreme longevity. The cold foam is very durable also.💪 The ideal home has long-lasting components, so this is a crucial factor
The short answer is almost everyone. The Emma Premium mattress is supposed to be an advancement on what Emma has already produced, so it would make sense for it to be more accomodating. Based on the level of firmness that the mattress provides and the specificity of its pressure relief it is fair to call the Emma Premium suitable for back and stomache sleepers, who need firm support upon their bed frame. However, there is enough balance in this Emma mattress' plushness to help facilitate the spinal promotion of side-sleepers also. In addition, the combination of the pocket spring and foam layers and their adaptability, particularly through the innovative pocket springs core means both heavy sleepers and light sleepers will benefit from having the Emma Premium.
