The Cover
The mattress cover is at the very top, made of Polyester. The body is also quilted, which gives it added padding and adds to your comfort🤗 whilst sleeping. Even though the mattress cover can be removed, Nectar recommends it not to be machine-washed. 🧺
The PU Foam Layer
The support layer is 4cm in width and of the foam materials, is the thinnest used in the mattress. This foam used is Polyurethane which is the foam used in the former generations👴 of foam production. Even though polyurethane may have been upgraded 🤖by following generations, this does not make it completely incomparable in terms of what it can offer a mattress. In fact, Nectar tweaked their formula, 🧪so that instead of having a memory foam layer as they did before just below the cover they went for the PU due to memory foam being prone to trapping heat. Having a memory foam on top of another would only have worsened an identifiable problem, so Nectar decided one memory foam was enough for its qualities to be felt. A similar decision is evident in the Nectar Premier mattress, the Nectar memory foam's brother👨👦, which has a breathable foam layer above the memory foam.
The Memory Foam Layer
Memory foam is of course a developed kind of foam that is superb at adapting to the shape of your body due to the viscoelasticity of the material, so Nectar brings the comfort that comes with memory foam. 💤 This layer which sort of behaves like a comfort layer, is 5 cm thick and this added thickness over the PU foam layer ensures that it is felt beneath the layer above it. The memory foam is of high quality, so the properties🏠 you’d expect from a memory foam bed are at an almost optimal level.🏆 These layers also affect the firmness of the mattress, subtracting➖ from the level of firmness of the polyurethane foam layer.
The Seven Zone Supportive Base Layer
This is the deepest lying layer of foam in the mattress and is 16cm of thickness, which is a sturdy💪 sleep foundation for the other layers. This is also made of polyurethane foam, enhancing the properties of the upper layer. ☝However, the difference with this is that it is constructed with seven pressure-relieving zones.
Each of the 5 layers brings different qualities to the mattress. These are the top cover, the support layer, the memory foam layer, the sleep foundation supportive base and the base container material.
Positioning Base Material
Although this doesn’t add much support or directly to the comfort of the mattress it is important because it keeps the mattress fixed in place and stops it from moving about on whatever bed frame you use. This is essential because the pressure relief of the mattress comes down often to how it absorbs,🧽 then responds to the forces exerted, but this would be undermined by the movement🤸 of the mattress. With this prevented, the qualities of the foam layers above the bed frame can be felt to virtually their full effect🍺

Motion Isolation
Would your sleep be disturbed by a moving partner?
Having the memory foam sandwiched🥪 between two polyurethane layers does wonders🎇 for essentially minimizing the motion transfer of the mattress. Memory foam performs much better than spring coils that can be found in other mattresses as the compression is very isolated🏝 to the region where it originates. The motion isolation in this Nectar exceeds most even the Emma Original.

Thermal regulation
Does it get too hot?
In terms of thermal-regulation, the Nectar mattress performs at te level you'd expect of a gel memory foam mattress. The supportive base layer not only adds to the support levels of the mattress, but also helps to circulate air🌌 and prevent heat from remaining trapped in the mattress due to it being an aerated foam. What also makes the nectar mattress good in how it deals with heat are the seven channeled zones of the mattress force out heat when it transitions from decompressed to compressed. This ensures that the temperature🧨 doesn’t reach sweltering heights🥵 and makes sleep a nightmare for you.
Firmness
How supportive is the mattress? Is it very hard? Are the sinkage depth levels extreme?
If it was just a judgment of the memory foam, we’d likely find the mattress to be quite soft, but when combined 🤝with the PU layers it is considered to be medium firm. The Polyurethane upper layer does significantly bring up the level of firmness, so you’ll find that the memory🧠 foam effect is not very pronounced and the furthest you’ll sink into the mattress is 5cm. Therefore the medium firmness is on the firmer end instead of softer.
Pressure relief
Does it support where it matters and alleviate the pressure?
The Nectar is in the argument for the best mattress in this regard. The seven-zone channels in the base layer offer added compression to certain regions of the mattress which adds more relief to the pressure points of your body where pressure is greater and compresses less in areas where your head and feet 🦶are as well as the stomach, which is important for stomach sleepers since you, as a result of the seven-zone channels, don't push that far into the mattress. If being a side-sleeper is your sleeping position identity🧔, you are going to have greater pressure in the hips and shoulders than other areas of the body, but the seven zoned, pressure-relieving channels alleviate that build-up and give proportionately appropriate support to those areas. Responsiveness and adaptability
Is it viscoelastic? Will it conform to your body? Is it quick to respond?
The PU foam plays a role in the responsiveness of the mattress because it counteracts👈 the viscoelasticity of the memory foam. PU collapses very quickly and does not conform to the body of you, the sleeper. Since there are two layers of PU foam, the mattress ends up just lacking adaptability. 😒

Spinal alignment
Will it support your back and neck?
The overall firmness of the mattress, which is of medium-firmness prevents you from sinking too far into the mattress and this keeps the spine aligned whilst you are in your sleeping position This helps with back pain relief.👍
Edge support
Is it sturdy around the edges? Does the mattress collapse on the sides?
The mattress’ edge support system has been described as being average. The sides of the mattress don’t completely give way and make it feel like you’re sliding off,🎿 but it will not be as supportive on the sides as it is in the more central areas. Off-gassing
Does it produce gas? Does it have an unpleasant smell?
Since the Nectar mattress is constructed with PU foam it is expected to create off-gassing which is the release of quite harmless gaseous💨 substances called VOCs. However, many have noted that the off-gassing that does occur is slight and the unpleasant smell 👃that occurs is barely noticeable enough to be considered unpleasant. A major contributor to this is the fact that Nectar does not use TDCCP within its foam. As memory foam mattresses have to meet fire-safety🔥 regulations in order to be marketable, TDCCP is a common additive found in foam mattresses to align with the standard, but as it is a huge reason for major off-gassing, Nectar found alternatives.
Eco-cleanness and Hypoallergenic levels

The mattress uses no carcinogenic materials and elements such as mercury, cadmium or lead.
