The Simba Hybrid mattress is one of the three included in Simba’s Hybrid range, which also has the Simba Hybrid pro under its mattress brand umbrella🌂 and the hybrid is the cheapest of the three. According to Simba, they processed tonnes of data,📊 including a long-listed criteria🧾 to see what people want in a mattress and have made a product that fulfills the criteria for 95 percent of people. That claim seems to be supported by the general public reception since the mattress has been getting rave reviews upon being released. It is a multi-award-winning🥇 mattress, with 12 awards in the industry to its name making it quite a prestigious product.💎 It is important to note though, that not all mattresses are appropriate for all people, so let’s begin exploring whether you could be part of the majority who would fall in love💕 with the Simba mattress or that 5% who don’t understand what all the fuss for Simba sleep is all about after digesting this Simba mattress review.
Price: From £549 in the UK
This hybrid was one of the first bed-in-a-box mattresses which is a mattress that is delivered in a vacuum-sealed box and that has to decompress after arriving. The Simba mattress is a hybrid mattress because it combines pocket springs with memory foam to create a mattress that has numerous pleasant qualities. It comes in 5 layers, each adding to how the mattress performs
This is a cover with hypoallergenic properties. This is important because at least 12 million people in the UK suffer from dust mite allergies which can be a problem in mattresses. Dust mites are likely to occur when dead skin cells and natural bodily oils seep into the Simba mattress surfaces, but the Simba cover prevents this from occurring, thus stopping dust mites from spreading over the mattress and triggering allergies. Having this at the top is critical because it is the first point of contact between you and the mattress, so the hypoallergenic qualities prevent your body’s night-time micro-expulsions from bringing in the wrong kind of guests. 🐜The material is hand-knitted with a super-soft material which brings a velvety comfort to the top level of the Simba mattress. The cover is not washable.
This foam layer which is infused with graphite is a unique formula patented by Simba and called Simbatex foam which is also used in their Simba Hybrid Luxe and Simba Hybrid pro mattress. In this hybrid, it is 40mm deep. The Simbatex comfort layer, due primarily to the infusion of the mineral graphite, does well with transferring heat away from the sleeper. Graphite has been a popular🙌 component in computer and electrical products because of its cooling capabilities and Simba wanted to utilize its properties to have a similar cooling 🏊♀️effect. In addition, the Simbatex foam technology uses an open-cell structure. Within this comfort layer structure, the cells are open, or without enclosing walls, 🚧which allows for the passage of water and air. During the manufacturing process open-cell foam expands, but due to its structure, it can withstand this inflation, highlighting its durability.
This layer is made up of many titanium🔩 micro-coil springs called Aerocoil which is also used in the Simba Hybrid Luxe. Micro-coils are typically found in hybrids or a semi-foam mattress and they have individual agency, so just as the coils in pocket spring mattresses act independently, the springs in the micro-coil section have free range and can move horizontally and vertically. The difference between this structure and the typical pocket-sprung layer is that the Simba Hybrid does not use cylindrically shaped Marshall coils. This difference is important because conical springs excel under compression. This is because cylindrical coils have the same shape🔺 throughout their length, but conical-shaped coils🎉 do not. The decompressed, neutral height of a spring is referred to as the ‘free length' and the higher the free length the more susceptible it is to damage. 🤕However conical pocket spring coils combat this since the bottom part, with its wider base gives it more stability and structure than those of a cylindrical shape. 🧴Therefore the Simba Hybrid mattress deals with compression very well. The coil count reaches 2,500 in the king-size variation, which is possible in one layer due to the size of the coils, allowing them to fit.

This layer is 4.5cm thick and is made of reflex foam As it is reflex, the foam contains bubbles that will trap air. The technology excels at compression, due to how the air moves concerning the person sleeping. 😴The name Simba-pure is supposed to convey the purity of the mattress and its lack of substances that are not eco-friendly. Simba-pure is also made without phosphates, Bisphenols and Parabens which are flame retardants, 🔥but are not environmentally clean.
The foam layer at the bottom is almost constructed with Simba-pure technology. It has five different support zones which are traverse cuts ✂through the mattress material. This kind of design is known as zoned construction👷♂️ and it used to bring specific support and deal with pressure. This foam is built with an open-cell structure in a process known as vulcanization. This enhances how the mattress responds to pressure upon it.
The Simba Hybrid’s pocket springs perform better than innerspring mattresses when it comes to motion isolation due to the springs moving individually and absorbing🧽 pressure well. However, as they are springs, albeit very small ones,👶 motion isolation can be a little bit of a problem.😕Having two foam layers on either side does keep it lower than had they not been positioned there, but certainly, motion isolation here is not at a very high level.

We've always had a cheap mattress, but when we changed from a double to a super-king we decided to treat ourselves and had a look at the Simba Hybrid. However we have been pleasntly surprised at how reasonable they are. Ordering and delivery was super easy and the mattress has been a game changer. I am a shift worker, so instead of just waking up at lunchtime I can sleep on. I would highly recommend | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | United Kingdom | Female |
Arrived in a handy box. First night's sleep was excellent. You don't notice much rolling over and it is great for side-sleeping. It even seems to stay cool in the summer. Minus one star for the bumpy top which is too tactile for me. Will see if the mattress topper solves that. | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | United Kingdom | Female |
I would expect more firmness. Overall it is great and comfortable. Most importantly my shoulder pain is gone. | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | United Kingdom | Male |
The Simba Hybrid does well with regulating heat due to the graphite-infused foam that it uses which is a problem usually left unsolved by the average memory foam mattress. Graphite’s thermal conductivity means that it does not deflect heat, but it transports it 🚚through and out of the mattress. This keeps you cool whilst you sleep. In addition, the top cover does well to keep heat from building🏢. As the material is at the top its cooling effect is felt more by you, than had it been placed lower.👇
The Simba Hybrid is a medium-firm mattress. It will give you a decent level of support for your sleeping position whilst initially not letting you sink too far into the mattress as a softer mattress🌦 would. Yet it is not as delicately balanced as another mattress in the hybrid range that Simba has produced. The medium-firm mattress is frequently described as being quite bouncy🏀 and this is due to the springs. However, the springs do not bring discomfort because the layers above shield 🤺you from the coils and the springs are, so small that they barely feel like individual components.
The zoned construction of the Simba-pure base layer grants the mattress to provide relief in the most pressured areas of the body when sleeping. Since the Simba-pure foam layer is constructed using reflex foam, the trapped air of the foam bubbles 💭will be displaced upon you lying upon it. As a result, the nuanced pressure differences that you generate across your body will be adjusted by the cells and this will bring you a lot of relief in parts of the body where pressure is greatest. This generally comes down to the kind of sleeper you are. Furthermore, the zoned comfort support construction of the foam base layer means that pressure will be alleviated in areas to bring balance to the forces exerted across the surface of your body.
A key factor that affects the responsiveness of the mattress is the thickness of the coil wiring of the Aerocoil pocket springs technology. This is known as the gauge . The gauge of the coils is low, so they are thin. In fact they are as thin as the metal of paperclips. 📎This makes them very responsive. Combining this with the weight sensitivity of titanium, means the mattress will be quite intuitive to your shape and size🤰 and the support across your body will be proportionate. Furthermore, the fact that the coils are micro-coils makes them even more responsive than regular-sized pocket springs, since they bring a level of responsiveness to a smaller scale. This further enhances your comfort.🛌
The base layer is geared to supporting the spine, so initially, the mattress keeps the spine neutrally aligned.📏 However, it seems after a while to suffer from sagging. This is a problem across the mattress industry since this will negatively impact spinal alignment and will cause back pains.
The Simba Hybrid implements what Simba calls their ‘Edge lift technology’. This provides the mattress with edge-to-edge support. This is found lacking in quite a lot of mattresses which are even considered to be high quality The Emma original which is an excellent mattress 👍in most other aspects is an example of this. The Simba-pure layer of the hybrid, below the springs, has support all across its surface. This results in you having stability ⚓ and sturdiness wherever you are on the mattress, 🛏regardless of your sleeping position. In addition, this helps with weight distribution, so that pressure is alleviated.
The Simba-pure is created without the use of the flame retardant called TCPP. This is used as an additive with polyurethane foam. Although this is flame-resistant it is a major reason for the release of VOC’s or Volatile organic compounds when mattresses are unpacked.🎁 This is what produces off-gassing in new mattresses. It is very common in mattresses that are made using polyurethane foam since TCPP is used to meet fire regulation standards. However, Simba was aware🧠 that they could meet fire regulation standards without having to use TCPP or other pollutants and that is why Simba-pure is used.
The cover of the Simba Hybrid is made from a hypoallergenic material which means dust-mite allergens on the mattress won't be a problem. The Hybrid uses 100% recyclable materials 💯
The breathability of the Simba Hybrid is excellent. In fact, it is one of the most prominent qualities of the mattress. The Aerocoils contribute massively to this. These micro-coils push air💨 throughout the structure to prevent heat from building up and keep you cool throughout your sleep. The Simba-tex technology in the layer below the top ensures that heat build-up is not a problem because of its incredible breathability. In fact, the Simbatex performed 30x better than a tested🧪, leading memory foam brand in the promotion of air-circulation. This is significantly down to the open-cell structure of Simba-tex. As air has free movement throughout the mattress, heat does not get trapped and as the layer is close to the surface, you won’t feel suffocated by uncomfortable temperatures. 🌞This can be enhanced further by the breathability of the Simba mattress topper.
The mattress’s foam base is high density. This typically equates to a mattress having a longer life span than lower density mattresses due to it being more resistant to regular pressure and external forces. The Aerocoil structure in the mattress is very durable. The coils are made of titanium which is one of the strongest springs available. 🏋It is also even more resistant to corrosion than stainless steel. Although the spring structure seems to maintain its quality over many years, 📅there is a lot of criticism that persists concerning the Simba Hybrid which is that a groove seems to appear down the middle of the mattress not too long after its first use. This is likely to cause back pain as it ages into an old 👴 mattress because the emergence of this groove will disrupt the overall levelness of the mattress more and more over the years. The Simba mattress topper could be a wise investment 💸to boost the mattress' durability as well as the mattress protector.
