Tempur's memory foam formula is on exhibit👑 yet again with the Tempur Hybrid mattresses. That formula🧪 is, so impactful that it actually has remained a secret🤫 even up today like the Krabby Patty crucial ingredient in Spongebob. Speaking of sponges 🧽there isn't much that compares to the springy, adaptability of a sponge other than a Tempur mattress surface. The brand earned its status by revolutionising the NASA🚀 foam technology and have managed to stay at the front of the pack despite the huge mattress brands that have joined the race🏎️ over the years.
We have analysed a single Tempur model that is made up of two mattress variations that are near enough identical 👥 other than the thickness of the layers and the cover. We found these mattresses, the Elite and Supreme to be well put together models👸, but our aim was to find out if they were aptly named. We measured them up against their brand compatriots, the Tempur Original, the Tempur Sensation and the Tempur cloud, which is made up of 9 variations between them to see if they can be considered Elite✨ and Supreme and whether they would give you enough of a reason to get a Tempur Hybrid delivered to you.
The Tempur Hybrid mattress has four core layers, but the Elite has a fifth key layer which is the QuicRefresh cover.
This layer of the mattress contains polyester and a modest percentage of elastane which gives it an elasticity🩲 and allows it to be skin tight🩱 to the mattress. It is removable and can be machine-washed up to a temperature of 60 degrees. This isn't a small 📌matter, however because there are numerous mattress brands which we have reviewed that don't have removable or unzippable covers that can be washed.
In the Elite variation this is 4cm thick. The Supreme🤴 variation is 1cm less thick. This layer is what gives the Tempur the plushness that it has. This Tempur foam is the comfort layer of the mattress. It is the main reason for the memory foam effect of the mattress, delivering📦️ the viscolelastic element to the surface. As this is the very top layer, the levels below👇️ help to enhance the magnitude at which it is felt.
The Supreme edition is 5cm deep. However the Elite has 3cm on top of that. The material is made of of viscolastic cells which brings the adaptability of the mattress to microscopic levels🔬. The thickness difference between the Elite and Supreme is critical because with more dynamic support, the upper comfort layer is able to shine 🌞more. Other than the cover, this is the aspect which really sets the Elite apart from the Supreme. This is the transition✈️ layer of the mattress providing the bridge🏗️ between the core structure and the comfort layered padding above.
Both the Tempur Hybrid Elite and Supreme have 10cm of Micro-coils within the mattress, so neither has the advantage🤺 in this area. The Micro-coils used are about twice the length of most mattresses that use pocket springs. This means their influence🤳 is more impactful and felt through the upper layers. Micro-coils give more pinpoint responsiveness in comparison 👯to regular sized coils because more are able to be fitted into a concentrated mattress region and their individual agency responds to the compression🗜️ from your body in a more nuanced fashion. 👠
This is the very bottom of the mattress and is the sturdy base. In the Elite it is the thinnest✏️ part of the mattress' composition, but in both the Elite in Supreme it is 3cm deep. This is the foundation for the layers above to show what they can deliver
One of the best things about buying a Tempur mattress is that they don't pass⚽️ on the motion. If you are concerned😕 that this mattress has a layer of micro coils and will bounce a little too much, this isn't the case. Tempur memory foam has excellent🤩 motion absorption capability and doesn't make noises when you move around at night. So you don't disturb your partner.
The Tempur Hybrid mattress is perfect for both sides and back sleepers because it gives back support and encourages 👏spinal alignment. It also distributes your weight equally and aligns📐 your body.
The top Tempur layer is soft enough to adapt perfectly to your body shape and relieve all pressure points.
This mattress isn't ideal🏝️ for stomach sleepers or heavyweight people because it isn't firm enough.
If you find it too hot at night,🌡️ this mattress is not for you, and you might want to try a more relaxed model.
The Tempur memory foam is made of billions 😲of spherical cells that respond and adapt to your body temperature while adapting to your sleeping position. The removal of pressure increases your circulation and makes you feel warmer, so you won't wake up feeling cold during the early hours. 🕰️
What people thought of the Tempur Hybrid | Star rating | Reviewer Location | Reviewer gender |

I've had the best sleep I've had in years. Although the mattress is a little pricey, my husband loves it, and it's soft, snug and not too warm at night like my other mattress. Delivery was also quicker than I expected. | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | United Kingdom | Female |
Great service. Fast delivery. I love the fact that this mattress also comes with a free topper. | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | United Kingdom | Female |
Decent mattress. After 100 nights, the mattress hasn't gone saggy and helps with my back pain. We are side sleepers, so if you are thinking of purchasing the Tempur Hybrid, then this is the way to go. | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | United Kingdom | Male |
On a firmness scale we think the Tempur Hybrid sits around the centre⚖️. It is developed👷 to be of a medium-firmness.
These mattresses are best suited👔 to side sleepers and back sleepers as the mattress is soft enough to adapt perfectly to your body shape. Therefore the mattress responds to the body heat🥵 emanating from you, so where you are pushing more🤼 into the mattress, the more heat is concentrated in that specific spot, so the softer that area becomes whilst the other areas are firmer which allows for great contouring 💄of the body.
Yes, the viscoelastic foam gives it a high 🗻level of adaptability. The viscoelasticity of the mattress means you receive adequate conformity from the foam shaping around you. 👣
This mattress is great for alignment📏 of the spine, keeping the neck and back healthily🍎 positioned when lying upon it, particularly as a side or back-sleeper.😴
Keeping in mind that Hybrid Tempur mattresses have both foam and spring coils in their interior, the idea💭 is for the Tempur to provide edge to edge support. However we felt there wasn't adequate resistance😒 on the sides. Although you will not feel like falling🤕 off the bed while lying close to the side, you will not feel as supported as when you sleep in the middle.
For this reason Tempur Hybrid mattresses aren't suitable🚫 for those who tend to sleep near the sides or want consistent support across the entire surface.
Most new mattresses that have been manufactured⚒️ using polyurethane foam have an unpleasant smell known as off-gassing. This occurs when you remove a mattress from its packaging for the first time and invisible 👻compounds are dispelled into the air. Don't let it put you off from buying the Tempur Hybrid though, as it is normal, and the smell 👃of your new mattress being stuck in a plastic covering. With the Tempur Hybrid we found that the smell will disappear🕳️ within a few weeks at the most.
We've compared the Tempur Hybrid with another popular😎 hybrid. The Eve Premium Hybrid mattress is a British mattress 🛌that is great for those who are heavy to medium in weight and those who feel hot in bed at night.
According to the Tempur website, all products come with an antimicrobial 🦠cover treated for improved freshness and are hypoallergenic. Also the Tempur Hybrid met the requirements of the Standard 100 💯which is governed 💂by OEKO-TEX. This standard is the practice of testing to see if a product contains harmful substances in its production, including toxins☠️. The list contains up to 350 chemicals and the Tempur Hybrid has not been reported to contain any of them. This rigorous testing performed by OEKO-TEX ensures the eco-purity and harmlessness 🐰of the mattress' materials.
The polyester in the QuickRefresh cover of the Elite does much for the breathability of the mattress because of its moisture-wicking abilities.🦸 Though polyester isn't naturally permeable and doesn't have the absorption qualities of cotton🧦 or the flax 🌾of linen it is synthesized to be able to transmit moisture up, then out of a mattress. To see how the breathability of polyester matches up to other materials, check out the link
According to the company, the hybrid Tempur mattresses can last up to 15 years🧭 with proper care. However their warranty is a guarantee👍️ of 10 years, so that could seem like a lack of company confidence that their product could meet that figure of 15 years. Yet, we think the durability is an obvious feature of the Tempur Hybrid. It was adapted from Tempur NASA 🪐foam technology which had to be resistant to extreme g-force🚴 and drastic closed-condition changes that wouldn't be experienced in a regular bedroom. We think that is enough for it to pass the durability test.
The price includes a mattress protector🎁
The warranty for the Hybrid Tempur mattresses is ten years. It covers all defects🥴 caused by faulty materials or quality and changes that result in a noticeable indentation over 2cm in the mattress according to Tempur.
The trial for the mattress is one hundred nights, but you will have to keep the bed for a minimum of 60 nights to adapt to its unique 🦄feel. This period is in line with most rivals on the market, although it's not as long as that of Emma mattresses (200 nights).
If during the trial period, you decide that the Tempur Hybrid is not the right mattress for you, you can quickly🏃 return it by filling in a form on the official UK website. The returns are free only for mainland UK🗺️ orders.
